One of the most popular styles of the 1890's and still today.
This table is quarter-sawn oak done in a cherry finish
We do have variations of the Narragansett style
By BBC and by other makers in our current available inventory.
Above are two of our previously restored “Narragansett” style tables. The darker table is a Brunswick-Balke-Collender (commonly referred to as “BBC”) and the lighter table is Sanford-Bell & Lahm, a New York City company’s, version. We refer to all the tables of this style by the BBC’s model name – “The Narragansett”. BBC produced more tables than the other companies combined. They also produced more catalogs and so the documentation of their model names is much more clear and complete. And some of the other companies’ names just weren’t as catchy - Boston manufacturers tended to name their tables things like “style 25” and “style 27” – not exactly memorable. I believe Sanford-Bell & Lahm called their Narragansett “The Brooklyn Bridge”-memorable, but somehow odd. While there are certainly minor variations among manufacturers, we feel the style and the quality are consistent enough to use a common name. While some clients will prefer a “Brunswick” because that is the name they know, others like having a table made in a city with which they have a personal connection.
